We are KCEFT

We learned early on that learning Emotionally Focused Therapy is harder when you try to do it alone. It goes against our mammalian wiring. We are not wired to be alone.

So, we built a community. A community that supports each other. A community that encourages each other. A community that validates each other.

We are KCEFT. We gather every month and engage in conversations that help us support each other and learn. We have grown a lot from the group of two therapists who gathered to watch video into a community who share the same passion for Emotionally Focused Therapy. We hope you will join us.

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy?

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to individual, couples and family therapies and was developed in the 1980's by Dr. Sue Johnson.  The theory is based upon adult attachment and bonding and has helped therapists understand what happens in distressed relationships in addition to being able to help therapists understand how to help couples in distress.

Research now exists to show how effective Emotionally Focused Therapy has become.  Research studies have found that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements. Emotionally Focused Therapy is being used in several settings for several presenting problems to include depression, trauma and chronic illnesses.
